1,200+ Bikers Ride for Kids at El Paso's 44th Annual Toy Run

Forty-four years in, the El Paso Motorcycle Coalition's Toy Run is still pulling riders in from all over the borderland. On Sunday, Nov. 1, the coalition held its 44th annual Toy Run to gather toys and donations for underprivileged children in El Paso and the surrounding community, KVIA reported.

From Sunland Park to the Coliseum

Riders gathered and registered at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, then rode together to the El Paso County Coliseum to drop off what they had brought. According to organizers quoted by KVIA, more than 1,200 bikers arrived at the Coliseum, where vendors, music and food were waiting while the toys and donations were collected to go back into the community.

Why toy runs matter

A toy run is about as simple as charity gets: you ride, you bring a gift, and a kid you'll never meet has something to open. Multiply that by more than a thousand motorcycles and you get a parade that a whole city notices. Runs like this one have become a fall tradition in towns across the country, and they are one of the clearest pictures of what the riding community is really about.
