Drizzle Didn't Stop Them: Sedalia Toy Run Delivers 300+ Toys and $2,594

A little morning drizzle couldn't keep the riders home in central Missouri. The 23rd annual Santa's Helpers Toy Run delivered more than 300 toys and $2,594 for the Salvation Army in Sedalia, KSIS Radio reported.

Cole Camp to Sedalia

A total of 62 motorcycles, along with more than a dozen other vehicles, rode from the Cole Camp Fire Station to Sedalia on Sunday afternoon, accompanied by Sedalia and Pettis County deputies. After arriving at Yeager's Cycle Sales, the group paraded to Stone Point Church at 24th and Ohio to drop off the toys and money.

"We had a lot more people than we figured we were gonna have because of the weather," spokesman Mike Davis told KSIS. "We had 115 people show up, so we did well. We've got a pile of toys (in the other room) you wouldn't believe … we'll be back next year."

Where it goes

Davis said the Salvation Army "has a distribution system that is out of this world. They know who needs it, and I don't," adding that the money will also go toward food for the hungry. "It all goes to a good cause."

The run is held each year in memory of Duke Paxton and Lois Davis.
