Thunder on the River 2026 Rolls Into Ironton This Week - Aug 27-30

There's a particular kind of rally that doesn't run on corporate money. Thunder on the River is one of them. Four days on the Ohio River in Ironton, run start to finish by volunteers — board members, leadership, the whole operation — with every dollar pointed at Folds of Honor and the Washington Shrine Club.

When and where: August 27–30, 2026, centered at 218 S. 2nd Street in downtown Ironton, Ohio. Free admission. Rain or shine.

The bikes you'll want to see

Two custom Harleys are being raffled this year: the Thunder on the River Spider Bike and the official 2026 Event Bike, both painted by Moore's Customz out of Chillicothe. Four decades of freehand airbrush work — no stencils, no vinyl, no wraps. Raffle tickets run $20, and organizers say you don't need to be present at the final drawing to win.

Music

Opening night belongs to Use Your Illusion, the Guns N' Roses tribute act, on Thursday the 27th. Saturday the 29th brings Jasmine Cain and Redefyned. More of the lineup has been rolling out on the rally's Facebook page as the week gets closer.

The charity ride — Saturday, Aug 29

The Widows Sons Blazing Star are running a benefit ride. Registration opens at 9 a.m. at Lawrence Lodge on South 3rd Street, kickstands up at 11. The route runs out to The Swamps in Patriot, then Courtside Bar and Grill in Gallipolis, finishing back at Shorty's in Ironton. $15 per rider, $5 per passenger.

Giving back, four days running

Alongside the two main beneficiaries, the rally is running a four-day food drive for Harvest for the Hungry. Bring canned goods.

Vendors, crowds, and rooms

Food vendors and merchant vendors both, live entertainment through the day, and community events throughout. Last year the organizer put attendance somewhere in the 10,000–15,000 range — and reported meeting riders who had come in from England, Australia, and Canada for a rally in a town of about 10,000 people.
