CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA โ Skull Ring (#306)
THE DEEP. Not every ship comes back. Some are taken, some are wrecked, and some โ like the Mary Celeste โ sail home empty and never say what happened.
It isn't a metaphor. The devil was the longest seam on a wooden hull, right at the waterline. Caulking it meant hanging outside the ship with the ocean under your boots and nothing to hold but the seam you were sealing.
Two bad options and no third one. Briggs had the same choice on 25 November 1872, and he picked the boat.
Heavy 316L stainless steel.
