BRIGGS' LAST ANCHOR — Ghost Ship Captain's Signet Ring (#R0052)

THE MARY CELESTE, 1872. Ten people vanished from a seaworthy ship. Their belongings were still aboard. Nobody has ever explained it.
This one is the captain.

Benjamin Spooner Briggs was thirty-seven, a Massachusetts master with a reputation for caution and a temperance man who wouldn't keep liquor aboard. He'd part-owned the ship. He brought his wife and their two-year-old daughter because he didn't want to spend another year away from them.

Whatever he decided on the morning of 25 November, he decided it as a careful man. He put ten people into a single lifeboat and left a sound ship. That's the part nobody can explain.

An anchor cut into heavy 316L stainless steel — for the hold he couldn't keep.

THE SAME VOYAGE: His ship is MARY CELESTE'S LAST BEARING (#c592). His craft is THE NAVIGATOR'S SIGNET (#R0073). His wife wore SARAH'S WREATH (#R0246).

Collectors Note: Part of The Mary Celeste collection.

Material: 316L Stainless Steel
